Hemophilia is a rare, inherited bleeding disorder in which your blood doesn’t clot normally. If you have hemophilia, you may bleed for a longer time than others after an injury. You also may bleed internally, especially in your knees, ankles, and elbows. This bleeding can damage your organs or tissues and, sometimes, be fatal.

Biogen Idec, Swedish Orphan Biovitrum restructure collaboration agreement for rFVIIIFc and rFIXFc programs

Biogen Idec and Swedish Orphan Biovitrum today announced that they have restructured the collaboration agreement for the companies’ long-acting, recombinant Factor VIII Fc fusion protein (rFVIIIFc) in hemophilia A patients and the recombinant Factor IX Fc fusion protein (rFIXFc) in hemophilia B patients.

The new Norvir tablets can be stored at room temperature and do not require refrigeration, making it more convenient for patients.
