Vulvar cancer or the cancer of the vulva is a gynaecological cancer that is on the rise with around 1,000 new cases being diagnosed each year in the UK. However, that said, vulvar cancer is rare and accounts for less than 1% of all cancer cases in the UK. North America has the highest incidence and Asia the lowest rates of vulvar cancer.

HPV-related cancers increase in U.S. counties with low-income, high smoking prevalence

A new paper in JNCI Cancer Spectrum, published by Oxford University Press, finds increases in both men and women for several HPV-related cancers in low-income counties or those with high smoking rates. Increases were slower in the highest-income US counties or those with low smoking rates.

New NCCN Guidelines published for Vulvar Cancer

It is estimated that more than 5,000 cases of Vulvar Cancer were diagnosed in the United States in 2015, and approximately 1,000 women died from the disease[i]. In order to provide comprehensive, up-to-date clinical treatment guidelines for this rare cancer, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, an alliance of 26 of the nation's leading cancer centers, has published the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) for Vulvar Cancer.

Study: 30% of older patients with vulvar cancer die from treatment complications, ICD

Research by the American Academy of Family Physicians demonstrates that vulvar cancer occurs most frequently in women age 65 to 75 years of age. Thirty percent of patients with vulvar cancer are age 70 or older, and the rate increases with age, reaching a peak of 20 per 100,000 women by 75 years of age.
