Castle Montessori Schools announce donation of $13,000 to JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes

Castle Montessori Schools, a leader in Montessori education, believes it is their responsibility to contribute to the health and wellness of the community through active participation in local events and donations to charitable organizations. The schools proudly announce a donation of $13,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) "Walk to Cure Diabetes."  The funds were raised by the families that attend the schools along with matching contributions by the founders, Vikas and Varsha Patel.

Students of Castle Montessori Schools, some as young as age three, participated in the "Walk to Cure Diabetes" and learned about the disease and what it is like to live with diabetes.  Among the Castle Montessori families was Marcus Spears, defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys, who also spoke to the students about the importance of exercising regularly and eating healthy.

"It is a great opportunity to be a part of such a worthy cause and to see young children grasp the concept of diabetes and to help them learn the importance of good nutrition and exercise as a part of their daily lives," said Mr. Spears. 

Founded in 2007, Castle Montessori schools have been actively involved in fundraising for such charitable organizations as The Salvation Army, St. Judes Hospital, and the JDRF to raise more than $25,000 in contributions to date. 

"We are committed to raising support and awareness for important life-altering diseases, particularly those that impact the well-being of children," said Varsha Patel.
