PakSense, Inc., an innovator in sensory solutions for packaging, announced today the launch of the PakSense BIOmed Label product line for use in clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines and other healthcare-related material transport. A new class of temperature monitoring device, PakSense BIOmed Labels are flat, about the size of a sugar packet, and digitally monitor a product's environment during distribution or storage. The small, flat form factor of the label enables cold chain monitoring in virtually any packaging configuration, including on the pallet, carton, and even individual item level.

Patented PakSense BIOmed Labels are different than other temperature monitoring devices for several fundamental reasons. They use a new type of temperature sensor that enables them to take a surface read of the object to which they are attached. This provides a closer approximation of actual product temperature versus the general ambient readings provided by bulkier recorders. Labels sample temperature every minute for highly accurate temperature reads, are encased in waterproof packaging, and can be recycled through the PakSense GreenSense recycling program. Further, the sensor is calibrated to NIST standards during manufacturing and does not require ongoing calibration to maintain accuracy. All labels are manufactured in ISO-9001 registered facilities.
There are three digital label types included in the introduction: a simple temperature indicator, a data logger, and a wireless model. The BIOmed Temp Indicator will flash light emitting diodes (LEDs) if a specific temperature range is breached. The BIOmed Contact Label also features LED alerts, however, temperature readings can be collected, downloaded, and graphed for further analysis via the PakSense Contact Reader and Software. The BIOmed Wireless Label enables all temperature data to be downloaded to the PakSense Wireless Reader within 300 feet line of site or 60 feet obstructed. This allows users to examine historical temperature data without opening a container or shipping box. All labels are shipped to customers with temperature parameters pre-programmed. Users simply activate the label and apply it to product or product packaging prior to shipping.
