UBM Medica today announced that CancerNetwork has been recognized by the Summit International Awards (SIA) with a Summit Emerging Media Award (Summit EMA) for being a leader in advertising through the use of innovative digital technologies.

"Traditionally, advertising has focused strictly on the big idea," stated representatives from Summit EMA. "Today, advertising needs to break new ground to keep up with rapidly developing technologies and social media. This is the heart of the craft's new form – one can no longer rely on simple formulaic solutions, one needs vision to compel and engage audiences."

CancerNetwork, which provides cancer care specialists with unique editorial content and information through an innovative digital platform that encourages interaction and engagement, was honored with the Leader Award in the Healthcare/Medicine Website category for demonstrating foresight in this new realm of communication and advertising, and setting the pace for emerging media.

"It's rewarding to have the SIA recognize the best practices we've cultivated across the UBM Medica network," said UBM Medica's SVP of Integrated Media, Amy Sklar. "CancerNetwork leverages an asset-rich environment that combines our best-of-breed content with impactful, relevant sponsor visibility.  Rich media and video placements help our sponsors communicate their messaging in a way that complements the information needs of our audience."
