Pressure Point Inc. has developed an effective 72 hour low-cost, FDA Market Cleared (Rx) dermal device, which uses an advanced acupressure approach for longer-acting prophylactic results in reducing the occurrences of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). The refinements associated with the non-invasive, Pressure Right® stimulation device, are such that they complement each other to bring about an enhancement of prevention of nausea and vomiting following surgery. Pressure Right® is the first of its (patent-pending) type to provide up to 72 hours of clinically proven enhanced effectiveness in PONV management.

The routine administration of the Pressure Right® horizontal-shaped wrist strip is preceded by the use of the product's unique P6 acupressure locator guide. The administration of the Pressure Right® procedure takes less than 60 seconds to complete on both wrists.

The Pressure Right® method includes (7) perforated locations on its locator guide to accommodate the three finger width of most surgery patients to complete the bilateral procedure. The positioning of the plastic dome on the wrist strip is represented by the centerline of the dome being located 1.5 inches from the end centered on the width of the of the adhesive strip. The placement of the dome at that precise location on the adhesive strip ensures that the adhesive shall remain firm on the intact skin area for at least 72 hours.

The diameter of the P6 pressure point is approximately 0.5 inches on the skin surface and the depth is 0.5-1.0 inches below the skin surface. The measurement specifics of the diameter and depth of the P6 pressure point are very important factors in achieving optimal therapeutic neuro stimulation to alleviate nausea and vomiting associated with surgery.

The measurement process associated with the Pressure Right® procedure ensures that the small diameter size of the P6 pressure point is consistently found on patients as part of the preoperative implementation technique. The measurement of the Pressure Right® plastic dome in terms of its diameter and height is such that it adequately covers the diameter of the P6 pressure point and the hard plastic dome is able to penetrate below the human skin surface providing adequate pressure to the base of the P6 stimulation center.

Based on the conventional wisdom of Eastern Medicine practices, the mechanism of action of the P6 stimulation center is to transmit neuro impulses, which activates the nerve system and signals the brain to release certain chemicals known as neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, dopamine or endorphins. These chemicals ten block the other chemicals that cause nausea and vomiting in the central nervous system brought on by multifaceted factors generally associated with surgical procedures.
