The Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) on Thursday released a report (.pdf), titled "The Future of the U.S.-South Africa HIV/AIDS Partnership," examining the joint U.S.-South Africa effort "to transition responsibility for HIV/AIDS programming and policies to the South African government," the center reports on its webpage. The report is based on the findings of the second of two delegation trips to South Africa, which aimed to "gain a deeper understanding of how this vitally important U.S.-South Africa transition has continued to evolve ... ; examine what critical challenges lie ahead during the Obama administration's second term, when a central U.S. policy focus will be to achieve successful transitions that effectively promote country ownership and shared responsibility; and to formulate priority, actionable policy recommendations for consideration by the Obama administration and the U.S. Congress," according to the report (Morrison et al., 3/14).
