New technique to control severe bleeding increases risk of death, study finds

A new technique used to control severe bleeding in injured patients has been found to increase the risk of death, according to new research from the University of Aberdeen, in Scotland, which was led by University of Alabama at Birmingham trauma surgeon and professor Jan Jansen, Ph.D. Jansen was a surgeon and researcher in Aberdeen before moving to the United States in 2017.

El Camino Hospital enrolls first patient in safety study using RenovoCath

El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California has enrolled the first patient in a safety study using the RenovoCath, a new catheter that is being introduced for targeted delivery of fluids to selected sites in the peripheral vascular system. The study will help physicians determine appropriate dosing of locally-delivered chemotherapy for patients with pancreatic cancer.
