Genzyme updates on Cerezyme supply plus 2009 financials

Genzyme Corporation (NASDAQ: GENZ) today provided an update on the impact of Cerezyme® (imiglucerase for injection) supply constraints on patient treatment regimens and on the company’s 2009 financial results. The company’s Fabrazyme® (agalsidase beta) supply constraint period, Fabrazyme dose conservation guidelines for patients, and Fabrazyme financial guidance are unchanged.

Oncothyreon closes $15.0 million registered direct financing

Additional trial to be conducted for KYNAPID under FDA special protocol agreement

Cardiome Pharma Corp. (NASDAQ: CRME/TSX: COM) and its co-development partner Astellas Pharma US, Inc. ("Astellas") announced today that Astellas will undertake a single confirmatory additional Phase 3 clinical trial of KYNAPID(TM) (vernakalant hydrochloride) Injection for rapid conversion of atrial fibrillation to sinus rhythm. The trial, to be called ACT 5, is expected to begin enrolling patients by the end of 2009, with completion expected in the first half of 2011.

Eiger Biopharmaceuticals starts CLEAN-1 HCV phase 1B trial

Eiger BioPharmaceuticals, Inc., a biotechnology company developing antiviral therapies, announced today that the first patients have been dosed in an innovative clinical trial in patients chronically infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV). The trial, run in centers in Australia and New Zealand, will investigate the antiviral effect of clemizole monotherapy in the absence of interferon.

Dendreon signs lease for new manufacturing facility in Union City, Ga

Dendreon Corporation (Nasdaq: DNDN) today announced it has signed a lease agreement with Majestic Realty Co. to build a 160,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Union City, Ga., where it expects to manufacture PROVENGE(R) (sipuleucel-T) for patients with advanced prostate cancer. The state of Georgia will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 30.

Array Biopharma reports Q4 and full year 2009 financials

Array reported revenue of $5.5 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, compared to revenue of $6.1 million for the same period in fiscal 2008. Only two stem cell lines account for most human embryonic stem cell research
