Lack of hemophilia treatment in the developing world costing lives

When modern medicine finds a way to treat a medical condition, people often think that the problem is solved. But we also have to find ways to get that treatment into the hands of those who need it. For example, new research from North Carolina State University shows that much more needs to be done to help get existing treatment to hemophilia patients in the developing world, and that the current lack of treatment there is costing lives.

CSL Behring offers new dosage strength of Helixate FS in U.S.

Hemophilia A patients who require high doses of Helixate® FS, Antihemophilic Factor (Recombinant), can now benefit from greater convenience in administering their treatment, thanks to a new 3000 IU (international unit) dosage strength. CSL Behring announced today that this new dosage strength is available in the U.S., allowing many patients to reduce reconstitution time by eliminating the need to mix and pool multiple vials of Helixate FS.

More than 160 families of patients living with a rare form of hemophilia are coming together at educational summits sponsored this fall by the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) and the Center for Biomedical Continuing Education (CBCE). For the fifth year, the Inhibitor Education Summits will connect patients and their families with expert healthcare professionals and fellow patients to address pertinent topics such as effective pain management, exercise and nutrition, financial security, and psychological wellbeing.

FDA approves Helixate FS for routine prophylaxis in children with hemophilia A

CSL Behring announced today that Helixate® FS, Antihemophilic Factor (Recombinant), has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for routine prophylaxis in children with hemophilia A who are 16 years old or younger and do not have pre-existing joint damage.
