EMEA PDCO recommends Cell Therapeutics to submit updated Pediatric Investigation Plan for pixantrone

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. today announced the European Medicines Agency Pediatric Committee recommended the Company submit an updated Pediatric Investigation Plan for pixantrone following discussions with the Company about the preclinical and clinical pixantrone data, including PIX301, and the desire to explore the potential benefits pixantrone may offer to children with hematologic cancer.

Gemin X Pharmaceuticals closes $16 million Series D financing

Gemin X Pharmaceuticals, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel, targeted cancer therapeutics, today announced the close of its $16 million Series D round of financing. Current investors Caxton Advantage Life Sciences Fund LP and Sanderling Venture Partners co-led the round. In addition, the Series D structure grants certain current investors the option to invest an additional $4 million in this financing round in the future.

DiscoveryBioMed awarded NIH SBIR Phase 1 grant to discover and develop anti-inflammatory phytochemicals

DiscoveryBioMed, Inc. High BMI can raise risk of postmenopausal breast cancer

ZenBio, Inc. announced that it has been awarded a Phase I SBIR grant to establish novel human cell-based models of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) that will be useful for basic research and as a potential drug development platform. Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have identified a potentially significant molecular player in the development of aggressive breast cancer. The team's findings show that a protein called NEDD9 is critical in the formation of breast tumors induced by high levels of the cell-surface receptor HER2/neu in mice.

USPTO issues patent covering method of metastatic breast cancer treatment using Bionovo's Bezielle

Bionovo, Inc. announced today that the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a patent covering a method of using Bionovo's proprietary drug candidate Bezielle® (BZL101) for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. Genentech to pay Seattle Genetics $9.5M for renewing licenses under existing ADC collaboration agreement

Seattle Genetics, Inc. today announced that Genentech, Inc., a wholly owned member of the Roche Group, will pay $9.5 million to renew exclusive licenses to specific targets and extend the research term under the parties' existing antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) collaboration agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Genentech has rights to use Seattle Genetics' ADC technology with antibodies against targets selected by Genentech.
