Misonix, Inc., an international surgical device company that designs, manufactures and markets innovative therapeutic ultrasonic products for spine surgery, skull based surgery, neurosurgery, wound debridement, cosmetic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and other surgical applications, announced that it has hosted a hands-on workshop on ultrasonic bone surgery today, July 17, during the 21st International Meeting on Advanced Spine Technologies in Valencia, Spain, taking place from from July 16-18, 2014.

Comparative study shows ultrasonic Bonescalpel makes spine surgery safe, efficient

Misonix, Inc., an international surgical device company that designs, manufactures and markets innovative therapeutic ultrasonic products for spine surgery, skull-based surgery, neurosurgery, wound debridement, cosmetic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and other surgical applications, announced that Dr. Ajay Krishnan of the prestigious Stavya Spine Hospital and Research Center in India concluded after a comparative study in 100 consecutive patients that the BoneScalpel is better than conventional methods in terms of safety and efficacy as it reduces the number of dural tears and neurological deficit, reduces blood loss and shortens operating time.

Breast lift procedures growing at twice the rate of breast implant surgeries

New statistics released today by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that breast lift procedures are growing at twice the rate of breast implant surgeries. Since 2000, breast lifts have grown by 70 percent, outpacing implants two-to-one. Breast implants are still by far the most performed cosmetic surgery in women, but lifts are steadily gaining. In 2013, more than 90,000 breast lift procedures were performed by ASPS member surgeons.
