Most common methods of delivery include the preferred non-invasive oral (through the mouth), nasal, pneumonial (inhalation), and rectal routes. Much research is now focussing on nanotechnology as a drug delivery method.

NJIT's EDC companies receive $1.4M funding from the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology

A drug to stop bleeding during a brain injury and a mattress that will prevent bedsores are among the scientific discoveries at NJIT that received earlier this week more than a million dollars in funding from the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology. The discoveries are the work of five early stage companies based at NJIT's Enterprise Development Center (EDC), the state's oldest business incubator program.

FDA accepts Sol-Gel’s Investigational New Drug Application for DER45-EV Gel

Sol-Gel Technologies announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has acknowledged receipt of Sol-Gel’s Investigational New Drug Application (IND) for DER45-EV Gel for the topical treatment of rosacea. This IND allows Sol-Gel to initiate Phase II studies with DER45-EV Gel in rosacea patients.

VaxInnate licensed to use 3M Drug Delivery Systems' TLR agonists

3M Drug Delivery Systems has signed an agreement with VaxInnate Corporation under which VaxInnate acquires the use of 3M’s patented toll-like receptor (TLR) agonists for use as vaccine adjuvants. Data suggest that 3M’s TLR agonists could enhance vaccine potency, potentially enabling VaxInnate to develop vaccines that provide faster, more robust protection.
