Testicular failure, also known as primary hypogonadism, is an uncommon condition that is characterized by the inability of the testicles to produce sperm and the male hormone testosterone. The are many factors that have been postulated as causes of the condition, which give rise to a wide array of signs and symptoms. These factors can sometimes make diagnosis as well as treatment of testicular failure a challenging problem.

FDA extends review period for Endo Pharmaceuticals' testosterone undecanoate

Endo Pharmaceuticals announced today that it has been informed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the agency has extended its review period for its long-acting testosterone undecanoate injection for men diagnosed with hypogonadism, from Sept. 2, 2009 to Dec. 2, 2009.

Giant pituitary adenoma is a so-called “benign” tumor that can cause visual loss and impair many of the body’s most basic functions. Endo Pharmaceuticals to acquire Indevus Pharmaceuticals

Endo Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ENDP) and Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: IDEV) announced today that they have entered into a merger agreement under which Endo will commence a tender offer to acquire 100 percent of the outstanding shares of Indevus for approximately $370 million, or $4.50 per Indevus share, in cash, and up to an additional approximately $267 million, or $3.00 per Indevus share, in cash payable in the future upon achievement of certain regulatory and sales milestones.

Exercise helps overweight men with erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is known to decrease the quality of life in men, and may affect as many as 30 million men in the United States alone, according to the new study. In a previous study, moderate-to-severe erectile dysfunction was reported by 12 percent of men below the age of 59; 22 percent of men aged 60 to 69 years; and 30 percent of 69 years and older.
