CRi to distribute 3DHISTECH’s digital slide scanners and software applications in North America

Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. Fraunhofer FIT to present IMIKRID and automated protein-level microscope system at HANNOVER MESSE

Proteins, the cellular building blocks, can be visualized and analyzed in great detail today. Here, Fraunhofer FIT presents a fully automated high-performance microscope. One of its diagnostic applications will be to study the complex interactions of proteins between cells. In tumor diagnostics our microscope allows to classify slightly different types of tumors more precisely and to fine-tune therapy accordingly.

FDA approves expanded indication for Boston Scientific's CRT-Ds

Boston Scientific Corporation today announced that the Circulatory System Devices Panel of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has unanimously recommended approval of an expanded indication for its cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds), including the COGNIS® CRT-D. The panel recommended the expansion include the majority of the studied population of the landmark MADIT-CRT clinical trial, which evaluated the ability of these devices to slow the progression of heart failure in patients with asymptomatic or mild heart failure.

In the healthy rat, prolonged exposure to carbon monoxide (CO) under conditions that mimic urban pollution leads to changes to cardiac morphology and function. Compensatory mechanisms develop in these animals to sustain normal cardiac activity, but they become more vulnerable to heart disease.

2010 Max Planck Research Award for Dr. Timothy Bromage from NYU College of Dentistry

New York University College of Dentistry's Dr. Timothy Bromage has been selected to receive the 2010 Max Planck Research Award. Study assesses gray matter concentration deficits in multiple brain areas of people with OSA

A study in the Feb. 1 issue of the journal SLEEP found gray matter concentration deficits in multiple brain areas of people with severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). CT colonography remains an effective colorectal cancer screening tool for older individual

Computed tomographic colonography (CTC), also known as virtual colonoscopy, remains effective in screening older patients for colorectal cancer (CRC), produces low referral for colonoscopy rates similar to other screening exams now covered by Medicare, and does not result in unreasonable levels of additional testing resulting from extracolonic findings, according to a study published in the February issue of Radiology.
