Fluidigm releases protocol for Access Array System for sequencing amplicon libraries

Fluidigm Corporation today announced the release of a protocol for the Access Array™ System that enables sequencing of amplicon libraries using GS FLX Titanium Series reagents on the 454 GS FLX sequencing system. The Access Array integrated fluidic circuit (IFC) automatically generates emPCR-ready libraries by simultaneously combining 48 samples and 48 primer sets to produce 48 uniquely-barcoded samples per chip for approximately $7 (U.S.) per sample.

Bruker to supply customized N8 TITANOS large sample AFM to US Commerce Department's NIST

Bruker today announced that it has been awarded a $1.1 million contract to supply a customized N8 TITANOS™ large sample Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to the United States Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The instrument will be used by NIST's Precision Engineering Division (PED) at its Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory, with a main focus on metrology applications which require traceable AFM (T-AFM).

Anacor Pharmaceuticals, MMV partner to discover and develop promising new malaria therapeutics

MMRC Multiple Myeloma Genomics Initiative presented at AACR 2010

An analysis of 38 myeloma tumor genomes surveyed through extensive next-generation sequencing by the Broad Institute has revealed intriguing recurrent mutations that point to important cellular pathways which contribute to multiple myeloma. These data were revealed during an oral presentation entitled "First Impressions of the Multiple Myeloma Genome" by Todd R. Golub, MD, Director of the Cancer Program at the Eli and Edythe L. Broad Institute.
