PTC Therapeutics completes $50M financing

PTC Therapeutics, Inc. (PTC) today announced the completion of a $50 million financing. The round was led by The Column Group - a new investor - and existing investor Delphi Ventures. The co-lead investors were joined by current investors Credit Suisse First Boston, HBM BioVentures, Novo A/S, Celgene, and other existing and new investors. In conjunction with the Delphi investment, general partner Deepa Pakianathan, Ph.D. will join PTC's Board of Directors.

Eritoran well tolerated in Phase II trial for severe sepsis

The investigational compound, eritoran tetrasodium ("eritoran," also known as E5564) appeared to be well tolerated in patients with severe sepsis in a Phase II trial published in the January issue of Critical Care Medicine, the official journal of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the largest multiprofessional organization dedicated to ensuring excellence and consistency in the practice of critical care.

Four Latin American cancer patients receive treatment using RapidArc radiotherapy technology

Four cancer patients became the first in Latin America to receive treatment using a fast form of image-guided radiotherapy that potentially enables doctors to improve outcomes while extending modern care to more patients. Doctors at Hope International Centro de Radioterapia of Guatemala are now treating four patients using RapidArc® radiotherapy technology from Varian Medical Systems, one with recurring prostate cancer, one with a nasal cavity tumor, one with rectal cancer, and one with recurring glioblastoma multiforme--an aggressive type of brain tumor.

Eli Lilly, Incyte announce collaboration for development and commercialization of INCB28050 oral inhibitor

Eli Lilly and Company and Incyte Corporation announced today that they have entered into an exclusive worldwide license and collaboration agreement for the development and commercialization of Incyte's oral JAK1/JAK2 inhibitor, INCB28050, and certain follow on compounds, for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The lead compound, INCB28050, is currently being studied in a six-month dose-ranging Phase II trial for rheumatoid arthritis.
