GENova to file for Prostaganin patents in the US and in Europe

GENova Biotherapeutics Inc. ("GENova") today announced that it is preparing for patent application filings in both the US (at the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration (www.fda.gov) for a 510(k) submission) and in Europe through EMEA (European Medicines Agency) subsequent to expected efficacious and non-toxic pre-clinical results for Prostaganin.

GTx to continue its toremifene Phase III high grade PIN clinical trial for prevention of prostate cancer

GTx, Inc. (Nasdaq: GTXI), today announced that following a planned safety review, an independent Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) has recommended that the company continue as planned the pivotal Phase III clinical trial evaluating toremifene 20 mg for the prevention of prostate cancer in men with high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), a precancerous lesion of the prostate.

Body mass in younger and older adulthood linked to prostate cancer risks

A team of scientists led by researcher Brenda Hernandez, Ph.D., M.P.H.-an assistant professor at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa's Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i-has reported that body mass in younger and older adulthood, and weight gain between these life periods, may influence a man's risk for prostate cancer. This risk varies among different ethnic groups, according to findings reported in a study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Drug discovery and development company Esperance Pharmaceuticals today announced that it has begun enrollment and dosing of patients in a Phase 1 study of EP-100 in patients with advanced solid tumors. EP-100, the lead candidate from Esperance's Cationic Lytic Peptide (CLYP(TM)) platform technology, is a targeted membrane-disrupting peptide (tMDP) designed to seek and destroy cancer cells that over-express luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) receptors on their surfaces.
