Early results from an Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology randomized clinical trial of adults with multiple myeloma relapsing on frontline lenalidomide therapy showed that adding ixazomib (Ninlaro®) to pomalidomide and dexamethasone as part of second line therapy extended the length of time patients lived before their disease worsened (progression-free survival) compared with patients who received pomalidomide and dexamethasone.

Daratumumab proves effective in patients with relapsed AL amyloidosis

Studied in a prospective clinical trial, only one of the two clinical trials of this agent in AL amyloidosis worldwide, researchers have found this anti-cancer drug to be well tolerated and effective in patients with relapsed AL amyloidosis when used with appropriate pre- and post-infusion medications.

A $2 million phase 2 Small Business Technology Transfer grant to optimize a promising new compound that has shown efficacy in preclinical studies against treatment-resistant multiple myeloma has been awarded to a Medical University of South Carolina startup company, Leukogene Therapeutics, Inc., in collaboration with MUSC researcher and company founder, Nathan G. Dolloff, Ph.D. Dolloff is an assistant professor in the Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics at MUSC and a member of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.
