Addition of sotatercept to existing therapy shows promise for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension

Patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a severe, progressive condition that affects the heart and lungs, who were treated with the novel first-in-class medication sotatercept on top of existing therapy experienced significant improvements in walking distance via a six-minute walking test—the study's primary endpoint and a validated surrogate for functional improvement and reduced symptom burden.

940nm wavelength laser is superior for treating facial spider veins: BUSM researchers

Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) have concluded that the 940nm wavelength laser is superior for treating facial spider veins (telangiectasias) as compared to the 532nm wavelength laser. The findings, which appear in the recent issue of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, are the first time these lasers were tested against each other for superiority.

New method for early diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension

Researchers at the University of Granada ( UGR ) from the Systemic Autoimmune Diseases Unit and the Cardiology Service of the Hospital Clínico San Cecilio in Granada have developed an innovative system which will help doctors make the earliest diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension possible, which is the main cause of death for patients suffering from scleroderma, a rare disease which affects approximately 1,200 out of every million people.
