The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care has published new recommendations that rule out the need to do a thyroid screening test “just because” if the patient doesn’t have symptoms of thyroid abnormality, is an adult, isn’t pregnant, and has no risk factors for thyroid disease. This should put to rest any doubts that thyroid screening is a part of a routine check-up.

Merck presents MK-1454 Phase 1 data for treatment of advanced solid tumors or lymphomas

Merck announces FDA acceptance of supplemental Biologics License Application for KEYTRUDA

Merck, known as MSD outside the United States and Canada, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted for standard review a new supplemental Biologics License Application for KEYTRUDA, Merck's anti-PD-1 therapy, as adjuvant therapy in the treatment of patients with resected, high-risk stage III melanoma and granted a Prescription Drug User Fee Act, or target action, date of February 16, 2019.

New article published in Spanish Journal of Pathology highlights a rare case of Hodgkin's lymphoma

Dr. Jerónimo Forteza, Professor of Pathology and Director of the Valencian Institute of Pathology, Catholic University of Valencia "San Vicente Mártir," recently published an article in the Spanish Journal of Pathology on the case of a patient with Hodgkin's lymphoma. A study published recently in Autoimmunity Reviews by Prof. Yehuda Shoenfeld, the Laura Schwarz-Kipp Chair for Research of Autoimmune Diseases at Tel Aviv University's Sackler Faculty of Medicine and Head of Zabludowicz Center for Autoimmune Diseases at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, points to the major role obesity plays in triggering and prolonging these autoimmune diseases.
