New targeted therapy zolbetuximab extends survival for patients with advanced gastric cancer

An international phase 3 clinical trial, done in participation with Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian, found that a new targeted treatment called zolbetuximab, given in combination with a standard chemotherapy, extended survival for patients with advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer that overexpressed a specific biomarker.

Immune system B-cells may be better in predicting HER2-positive breast cancer treatment response

Researchers at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and colleagues have found that measuring activation of immune-system B cells may be better than measuring either T-cell activation or the total number of immune cells in and around a tumor, called tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), in predicting whether HER2-positive breast cancer responds to treatment.

T-DXd leads to longer overall survival in HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer patients than T-DM1

Study reports overall response of HER2-low breast cancer patients to neoadjuvant T-DXd treatment

Patients with localized, hormone receptor-positive, HER2-low breast cancer treated with trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd, Enhertu) in the neoadjuvant setting had an overall response rate of 75 percent in the absence of anastrozole and 63 percent in combination with anastrozole, according to results from the phase II TRIO-US B-12 TALENT trial presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, held December 6-10, 2022.
