Ultrasound is a procedure in which high-energy sound waves are bounced off internal tissues or organs and make echoes. The echo patterns are shown on the screen of an ultrasound machine, forming a picture of body tissues called a sonogram. Also called ultrasonography.

Roper Industries to acquire Verathon

The Verathon Board of Directors has approved the transaction and the closing is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions, including shareholder approval. The parties expect the closing to be completed in early December.

NIH awards $1.2 million to GE Global Research to develop a low-cost transducer
