DP27 Color Camera from Olympus Life Science Solutions

The Olympus DP27 is a highly evolved digital color camera system, answering the needs of many scientific microscopy and routine imaging purposes, including documentation, reporting and analysis.

Advanced technologies such as the Progressive Scan readout of the chip guarantee a live image which is fast, fluid and free from distracting artifacts e.g. image striping or color ghosts, making day-long routine work more comfortable and efficient.

Exploring the sample and focusing on the screen becomes a natural alternative to working at the oculars, while color reproduction is optimized using the Olympus real-time color profiles. The Olympus DP27 can present a live image at Full HD at 25 frames per second or, if needed, a comfortably fast (15 frames per second), very detailed 5 megapixel live image.

In addition, its extensive dynamic range and sensitivity ensures that the images captured are of outstanding quality, even under challenging illumination conditions. Also available in a completely stand-alone configuration, where the camera's fluid live image and excellent color fidelity all ensure an efficient and stress-free microscopy workflow.

Equipped with a superb 5 megapixels CCD, the DP27 digital camera captures images at up to 2448 x 1920 pixel resolution. Large areas captured at low magnification offer exceptionally vivid clarity, even when enlarged several times.

Excellent Color Reproduction

Precise reproduction of fine structures and subtle color differences allow targets on the monitor to be identified with an accuracy equivalent to observation through the oculars.

15 Frames per Second Under High Resolution

Live images can be observed and captured at a rate of 15 frames per second at the full camera resolution of 5 megapixels. Therefore, as the non-compressed format is able to reproduce images with absolutely no degradation in quality, the user will be able to effectively zoom in the live image for precise focusing.

Three Color Modes

Three color modes enable the operator to tailor the image to suit the requirements of different applications. By selecting one of the three preset modes, the camera image is automatically adjusted to the user need and to the illumination technique used.

  • High fidelity mode: Reliable color reproduction equivalent to observation through the oculars.
  • Normal mode: Facilitates clear recording of a wide range of samples, even pale stained specimens.
  • Cell culture mode: Dedicated to phase contrast and DIC observations.

White Balance Adjustment

DP cameras corrects in real-time the image “white point” and always provides a colorful image without any color cast. User can change the sample illumination at their need, without having to loose time to adjust image properties.

Adjust white balance, switch to live display and capture images - all at the touch of a button. cellSens offers an array of image processing capabilities, including a versatile shading function that enables real-time correction for variations in peripheral field illumination intensity.

In addition, exposure settings, magnifications, and other parameters are saved alongside the acquired images for easy storage and retrieval. The innovative cellSens software offers a wide array of useful and easy-to-use functions.

Split-screen display, for example, provides simultaneous viewing of multiple images, or a live image and the most recently captured image. Pictures taken at adjacent locations can also be stitched together to create a single image using the Multi-Image Array functionality.

cellSens software may also store user comments with the captured image, which can be referred to as necessary or searched for using the cellSens Database.
