The TriVersa NanoMate with ESI Chip® Technology Liquid Extraction Surface Analysis (LESA®) is the latest in chip-based electrospray ionization technology from Advion. This advanced technology combines the benefits of mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, direct surface analysis, fraction collection, and chip-based infusion into a single integrated ion source platform. It enables researchers to acquire additional information from intricate samples than LC/MS alone.
As the only automated ion source platform, the TriVersa NanoMate enables high throughput infusion experiments for both large and small analytes in applications ranging from protein characterization to shotgun lipidomics and non-covalent interaction studies (NCI).
The TriVersa NanoMate was specifically designed to work as a nano-ESI ion source for LC/MS applications. Surplus LC eluate can be used for additional fraction collection to facilitate a physical storage of the LC/MS experiment, and enables re-analysis of fractions of interest as detected by the online LC/MS run.
The advanced ESI Chip provides the power of mass spectrometry through miniaturization. This microfluidic chip includes 400 nano-electrospray nozzles, etched in a silicon wafer. The highly reproducible fabrication technique ensures equal performance and integrity of each nozzle. The electrical field generated by the nano-electrospray nozzle leads to a highly efficient ionization as well as long-lasting, stable sprays from μL of sample volume.
LESA and LESA plus LC
Liquid extraction surface analysis (LESA) was developed in association with Dr Gary van Berkel from Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Its exceptional surface extraction through a liquid droplet held in suspension (liquid junction) enables a new method for spatially resolved analysis of technical and biological surfaces of interest.
