LuSi, the NICU Baby Autonomous Lung Simulator

The LuSi lung simulator from neosim has been designed to train clinicians in the application of respiratory therapy and the evaluation of lung function without any risk to patients. LuSi allows safe training on the application of NCPAP, effects of surfactant therapy, invasive ventilation, high-frequency ventilation, ventilator alarm setting, interpretation of ventilator data, and high flow oxygen therapy.

Uses of LuSi

LuSi can be utilized in a hospital setting or out of the hospital in any training facility since it does not require CO2 gas or actual tracking equipment. The parameters for vital signs are estimated based on quantified values like flow, pressure, and volume in addition to case-specific pathologies like dead space, lung compliance, and CO2 production.

LuSi responds autonomously

LuSi reacts to treatment without the need for operator intervention and can simulate pathologies such as lung collapse, RDS, pneumothorax, airway obstruction, weak muscular activity, etc. The models are based on scientific literature, for instance, Latzin et al. The selection and design of pathologies are regulated by LuSiLIFE, a touchscreen-enabled pathology building, and execution program. Integrated vital signs monitor

The Vital Signs Monitor window can be utilized to display the treatment results in real time. Pre-ductal and arterial pulse oximetry can be incorporated.
