OpSens’ OPP-M is a MEMS-based fiber optic pressure sensor made especially for measuring human and animal physiological pressure. These 0.20 mm OD miniature sensors are intended for use in medical devices like catheters or guidewires.

Minimally invasive physiology pressure measurement is possible with guidewires or other related interventional systems. Its new patent-pending design aids in the removal of moisture-induced drift and the reduction of thermal zero shift.

The PK6 encapsulation is perfect for applications requiring a bigger size, but has difficult material compatibility requirements.

OpSens’ novel embedded OPP-M is ready for integration. The encapsulation can be carried out on the sensor tip as well as across the entire optical cable in a variety of materials and sizes. The packaged sensor significantly reduces product development investment, lowering the total cost of integration and manufacturing methods.

The OPP-M addresses the medical industry’s requirements for long-term accuracy, consistency, low drift, and high-fidelity pressure measurements in the presence of tough RF, EM, MR, and microwave areas by integrating OpSens WLPI signal conditioning technology (patent # 7,259,862) and the characteristic advantages of fiber optic.
