Des techniques d'imagerie de Raman sont utilisées comme moyen d'obtenir les informations sur les vibrations moléculaires et la structure cristalline d'un échantillon. Des pixels d'image sont employés pour acquérir un spectre complet, qui est par la suite interrogé afin de produire des images de couleur qui diffèrent selon le matériau, la cristalinité, la phase, et la tension.
