Bcl-2 Protein Family - The Desirable Target

Within the Bcl-2 protein family, Abcam offers a varied selection of high-quality products.

The B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) family has been examined in cancer research for more than 30 years now. Some subgroups of proteins in the family, such as Bcl-2, Bcl -XL, Mcl-1 can prevent apoptosis, whereas others, such as Bax. Bak, Bad, and Bim react with the cascades by triggering them and can lead to programmed cell death (Figure 1).

Due to the way that members of the Bcl-2 protein family act, they can contribute to cell survival which makes them desirable therapeutic targets.

The tables below present detailed information about the most important reagents for this family and how they can aid in research. Information about the newly FDA approved Venetoclax is also provided.
