Unique approach to academia-industry training could help improve proton therapy treatment

Improving proton therapy for cancer treatment is one of the many advances in accelerator science that have been fast-tracked by a unique approach to academia-industry training, led by the Cockcroft Institute. The two programmes, which have produced 42 highly valued research fellows, are drawing to a conclusion and industry partners are warning of a skills chasm in the very near future unless further training is prioritised.

Springer releases new international journal in partnership with Regenerative Engineering Society

Springer has launched Regenerative Engineering and Translational Medicine in partnership with the newly formed Regenerative Engineering Society. The new international journal will cover the convergence of multiple fields, including tissue generation, advanced materials science, stem cell research, the physical sciences and developmental biology, and is actively seeking submissions.

DFG selects 10 researchers to receive 2015 Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize

This year's recipients of the most important prize for early career researchers in Germany have been announced. The selection committee, appointed by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), has chosen ten researchers, five women and five men, to receive the 2015 Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prizes.

Fujifilm enters into definitive agreement to acquire Cellular Dynamics International

FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) and Cellular Dynamics International, Inc. (CEO: Robert J.
