EMA recommends 4SC's resminostat for orphan medicinal product designation to treat HL

4SC AG, a discovery and development company of targeted small molecule drugs for autoimmune diseases and cancer, today announced that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has recommended 4SC's anti-cancer compound resminostat for designation as orphan medicinal product for the treatment of Hodgkin's Lymphoma (HL), a cancer of the lymphatic system.

Receptor tyrosine kinases control PI3K signaling in human KRAS mutant colorectal cancers

Some cancers can be effectively treated with drugs inhibiting proteins known as receptor tyrosine kinases, but not those cancers caused by mutations in the KRAS gene. A team of researchers led by Jeffrey Engelman, at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Boston, has now identified a potential way to effectively use receptor tyrosine kinases inhibitors to treat individuals with KRAS mutant colorectal cancers - combine them with inhibitors of the MEK/ERK signaling pathway.

Percutaneous hepatic perfusion extends survival time for melanoma patients

Melanoma of the eye frequently spreads to the liver and, once this has happened, there is no effective treatment and patients die within an average of two to four months. Only about one in ten patients live for a year. Now, final results from a phase III study have demonstrated that a new treatment significantly extends the time patients can live without the disease progressing.
