World’s first preclinical Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) system announced by Bruker

At the 2013 World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC, www.wmicmeeting.org), Bruker today announced the world’s first Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) system, an entirely new technology for preclinical imaging. The addition of MPI as a complementary preclinical imaging technique for disease studies, translational research and drug discovery, has significant potential in helping researchers gain new insights into disease processes at the organ, cellular and molecular level.

Multimodal animal bed introduced by Bruker

Today, at the 2013 World Molecular Imaging Congress (WMIC), Bruker introduces a new multimodal animal bed enabling multiple sequential imaging sessions in preclinical research with robust repositioning between scans, while avoiding unwanted motion of the animal during the investigation. The Alzheimer's Association is disappointed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services draft coverage decision on brain amyloid imaging, particularly given the clear, scientific consensus recommendations provided to CMS by the Association and the Society for Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging regarding appropriate, limited coverage, only in specific populations.

El Lilly calls for Medicare coverage of beta-amyloid imaging agents for Alzheimer's disease

Eli Lilly and Company today announced that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a draft decision proposing Coverage with Evidence Development for the use of beta-amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agents. Beta-amyloid imaging agents are used to evaluate patients with cognitive impairment for Alzheimer's Disease and other causes of cognitive decline.
