Thermo Scientific™ NextGuard™ X-Ray Detection Systems identify metallic and non-metallic foreign objects while eliminating “wet” product effects associated with metal detectors. NextGuard systems are designed for a wide range of food and pharmaceutical applications and provide expanded capabilities for inspecting packaged products for missing pieces or components, under and over-fills, and other quality issues using easily customizable vision software.
The Conveyor and C500 versions are user-friendly, cost-effective, and meticulously built systems that remove common hurdles to transitioning from metal detection to X-Ray inspection.

Features of the updated NextGuard X-Ray Detection System:
- Users of product verification software can perform a variety of size, position, and count checks
- Additional algorithms focus on detecting less dense impurities like glass or rocks in complicated, textured items like nuts or tea bag cartons.
- Optional mass estimation software utilizes the density information in the X-Ray image to calculate weight and detect under/overfilled products.
- Configurable for dual rejection, which distinguishes contaminated items from other quality faults
- The standard system CPU is now six times quicker than the first-generation NextGuard system, allowing for faster contamination identification and inspection while improving user response.
- The optional 0.4 mm-pixel detector provides 3.2 times higher resolution for increased metal detection in lightweight, homogenous products like powders or cheese.
