Genmab reports Arzerra net sales of DKK 73 million during second-quarter 2010

Genmab A/S announced today that the net sales for Arzerra® (ofatumumab) during the second quarter of 2010 were approximately DKK 73 million (approximately USD 12 million). Arzerra second quarter net sales in the U.S. and the rest of the world were approximately DKK 64 million (approximately USD 10.5 million) and approximately DKK 9 million (approximately USD 1.5 million) respectively.

Genentech disappointed with FDA ODAC's recommendation against Avastin

Genentech, Inc., a member of the Roche Group, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC) voted 12 to one that use of Avastin® (bevacizumab) in combination with paclitaxel for previously untreated (first-line) advanced HER2-negative breast cancer be removed from Avastin's U.S. label.

Preclinical results of TH-302 presented at AACR Translational Cancer Medicine Meeting

Threshold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today announced two preclinical presentations on its clinical stage hypoxia-activated prodrug, TH-302, at the American Association for Cancer Research Translational Cancer Medicine Meeting, being held July 11 to 14, 2010, in San Francisco, CA. The preclinical presentations describe new findings regarding the efficacy of TH-302 when combined with multi-kinase inhibitors that inhibit VEGF signaling, as well as the efficacy of TH-302 in combination with gemcitabine in models of pancreatic cancer.

Genentech's second Phase III ICON7 study of Avastin in ovarian cancer meets primary endpoint

Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, announced today that a second large, Phase III, international study showed that the combination of Avastin® (bevacizumab) and chemotherapy, followed by the continued use of Avastin alone, increased the time women with previously untreated ovarian cancer lived without the disease worsening (progression-free survival or PFS, the primary endpoint), compared to chemotherapy alone.

GSK, Genmab amend ofatumumab agreement

GlaxoSmithKline and Genmab A/S announced today an amendment to the ofatumumab co-development and commercialisation agreement. Under the terms of the amendment, GSK will take responsibility for developing ofatumumab in autoimmune indications whilst continuing to jointly develop ofatumumab with Genmab in oncology indications.

Afinitor more than doubles progression-free survival in advanced pancreatic NET: Study

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation announced today that results of a Phase III study show Afinitor® (everolimus) tablets plus best supportive care (BSC) more than doubled progression-free survival, or time without tumor growth, versus placebo plus BSC in patients with advanced pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NET). The study, RADIANT-3, was presented at the 12th World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer and is part of the largest clinical trial program in patients with advanced NET.

Oxygen can combat wrinkle formation by reducing UVB damage

It's no secret that UVB radiation from the sun causes wrinkles. Phase 1 clinical trial of XMT-1107 initiated in patients with refractory advanced solid tumors

Mersana Therapeutics, a platform-based cancer therapeutics company, today announced that it has initiated a Phase 1 clinical trial to study the safety and pharmacokinetics of XMT-1107 in patients with refractory advanced solid tumors. XMT-1107 is a novel anti-angiogenic fumagillin analog that employs Mersana's Fleximer platform. Mersana's XMT-1001, a conjugate of Fleximer and camptothecin, is currently completing a Phase 1 study.

Genentech's Lucentis for treatment of macular edema following RVO receives FDA approval

Genentech, Inc., a member of the Roche Group, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Lucentis® (ranibizumab injection) for the treatment of macular edema following retinal vein occlusion (RVO). The FDA approved this new indication after a six-month Priority Review.
