Olympus Medical Systems and Opitz + Flierl Hospitaltechnik offer complete integrated solutions for operating theatres

Under the leadership of its Systems Integration business unit, Olympus Medical Systems Europa GmbH, Hamburg, together with Opitz + Flierl Hospitaltechnik AG, Heideck near Nuremberg, Germany, have agreed a joint venture to meet the technological challenges of constructing hospital interiors for the future, whilst expanding their positions in the market. This cooperation allows Olympus and Opitz + Flierl to offer a full range of products for equipping operating theatres including integrated state-of-the-art surgical technology. The integrated solution (ENDOALPHA) with its modular components enables hospitals to optimise their routine workflows and enhance safety and reliability.

Since 1973, Opitz + Flierl Hospitaltechnik AG, a manufacturer of high-grade steel doors, has increasingly focused on constructing modular room systems for hospitals worldwide that allow optimal flexible use of the available space. With ENDOALPHA Olympus has developed a concept of integrated solutions for high-end endoscopy in sterile and non-sterile operating theatres – where functionality and design are paramount.

In operating theatres equipped with ENDOALPHA from Olympus, all medical and peripheral devices are centrally controlled and operated by touch screens. This promotes workplace comfort and convenience and makes all workflows more efficient. The integrated audio and video technology allows the endoscopic camera to be displayed on every monitor inside and outside the operating theatre. It also allows installing an iPod. Images can be transmitted directly to other operating theatres; the chief consultant’s room or conference rooms, for example, to get a second opinion intraoperatively or hold live teaching conferences.
