Novel cell sorting enhancement to MoFlo Astrios platform to be introduced by Beckman Coulter Life Sciences at CYTO 2013

Presenting two seminars and seven poster sessions, Beckman Coulter Life Sciences will have a prominent role when CYTO 2013 convenes at the San Diego Convention Center May 18-22, 2013. In exhibit hall booth 602, the company will introduce a novel cell sorting enhancement to their MoFlo Astrios platform, along with industry leading instruments, antibodies, reagents, software and custom and contract manufacturing services for both research and clinical cytometry.

Both seminars will be presented Sunday, May 19 at 12:45. In MoFlo Astrios EQ – the New Standard in Forward Scatter and Fluorescence Dynamic Range Performance: A Case Study on Microparticles, in room 32 AB, experts from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Flow Cytometry Core Facility Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Beckman Coulter Life Sciences will detail the use of new forward scatter optical assembly technology to identify and recover microparticles for downstream analysis.

In The ONE Study – Novel Approaches in Multicolor Panel Design and Intracellular Preparation Chemistry (room 29 CD), Michael Kapinsky from Beckman Coulter and Mathias Streitz, a researcher from Charité Hospital in Berlin, a member institution of The ONE Study consortium, will discuss the challenges faced in assuring consistency in results, panel design and sample preparation procedures for their international immune monitoring trial (www.onestudy.org). Additionally, results from the multicenter clinical study will be discussed in an oral presentation in Tuesday’s Parallel 12 session on Immune Monitoring.

Posters offered on Monday and Tuesday will illuminate methods for cell signaling, detection of blood dendritic cells, extended NK cell phenotyping in patients with acute myeloid leukemia and simultaneous cell sorting of nano and large phytoplankton, among other topics.

Exhibit hall highlights will include a pre-launch showing of the new MoFlo Astrios EQ cell sorting technology, which provides, for the first time, the ability to simultaneously observe submicron particle and macro cells in the same dynamic range.

“CYTO is a premier flow cytometry meeting that promotes collaboration directly between scientists using flow cytometry and the industry,” said Mario Koksch, vice president and general manager, Flow Cytometry, Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. “Cytometrists will find much value and interest in the work being done by scientists with our technical staff, our new instruments and the applications discussed in the various posters.”

Visitors to booth 602 will be able to see and discuss the Gallios,* Navios1 and Aquios2 flow cytometers, VersaComp** and PerFix* reagent kits and Kaluza* analysis software, and learn more about Beckman Coulter’s line of over 1,100 human antibodies in 15 fluorochrome options (including patented Krome Orange) and a wide range of supporting reagents and services. Details will be available on the company’s Contract Manufacturing Service (CMS) for manufacturing antibody cocktails to customer provided specifications.
