When someone starts using a e cigarettes around me it takes about five minutes before my asthma symptoms kick in. I also start getting a burning sensation in my throat, which other people have told me they experience too. I'm very sensitive but I just don't see how these products can't be harmful.

  Howard. Do you use an asthma inhaler when your asthma kicks in? If so, I'm afraid you are inhaling propylene glycol. Do some research and you will find that PG is the base used in asthma inhalers. Does it make your asthma worse?
  
  It could however be the nicotine... but You must be invading their personal space. The vapor cloud from my E-Cig evaporates to nothing in the air very quickly. Its like steam from a pot of boiling water and it only extends about 2 feet from my own face. Unless you are in a VERY confined space with multiple people vaping, I would have to guess this is in your mind and not your nasal passages.

    There is not ONE asthma inhaler that has propylene glycol in it.
    
    Ecig vendors did an amazing job recruiting ignorant people.

      You are correct. There is no PG in inhalers. But if the contents in e-cigs were harmful we'd all be in a load of trouble. Take a walk down the medicine isle and read the ingredients. PG and glycerin are used and consumed daily by all of us. We inhale it, ingest it, and absorb it topically. Both are used in nasal sprays, eye and ear drops, cold medicine, hand sanitizer and on and on. It's impossible to avoid these products. Food, cosmetics, medicines including inject-able medicines. PG passes through the body largely unchanged. VG is turned into a simple sugar. Now if your worried about nicotine you'd better stop eating potatoes, eggplant, cauliflower and a host of others in the nightshade family. Please don't get me going on the formaldehyde scare BS as we all sit here exhaling 2-6ug with every breath. Would I say a ecig is safer than breathing fresh air, no. I do say it's better than the polluted air we breath. A recent study concluded the vapor in ecigs contained 17ppm of pollution. When the air was tested it contained 16ppm.

        In reply to Roy, I think it's unfair to say that the OP is invading the space of the e cigarette users. In my experience if you are dining outdoors in California, often a self absorbed e cig user is puffing away spoiling the fresh air with artificial fruit smells and the like. It's unpleasant and bad manners.

So i'd say people are pretty intolerant to anything that don't please them ... Yeah sorry the only place where we can vape is outdoor unless we are at home... For the ''Fresh air spoiling with artificial smell'' sorry but the air isnt fresh, it's smell the crap coming out of car exhaust and ect ... So meh i'll keep vaping
