This may sound very odd, but in the summer of 08, I was stung on the finger by a yellow jacket. A terrific pain immediately radiated to the heel of my thumb which turned very red and  started to swell (except for a small itch, my finger did not hurt). I called the 24 hour medical advice service that we have here in Canada and was told to make a poultice of baking soda but the pain would probably be with me for 2 to 3 weeks. She was right except that after 3 weeks, it was still swollen and very painful. I went to my doctor who said it would gradually get better. After 5 or 6 weeks it was down to slight throb and I thought I was over everything.  Wrong! Several months later my thumb became very painful and this is happening every so often, so painful that I can't hold or pick anything up. Now I have started to have a very itchy reaction to something and suffering from nausea. Every test that anyone can think of has been done and nothing can be found. I have not reminded my doctor of this almost year old hornet sting. Could there still be something in my system from that? I am 79 years old, always have been in excellent health with no allergies. Any suggestions? J.
