    Breastfeeding is the biological norm for human infants and young children and yes it is 'natural'...however it is not always easy. The growing research understanding about the significance of the maternal microbiome, vaginal birth, skin to skin contact after birth and early and prolonged breastfeeding tells us the babies belong with their mothers. As mammals it is our job! To consider breastfeeding along similar lines to vaccination, IVF etc is a nonsense. In a world where the incidence of non communicable and chronic diseases are increasing rapidly, it is even more important that our children are breastfed and breastfeeding continues while plant based foods are introduced and continued for 2 or more years.
