    Why is it said that if a man ‘spills his seed “on the ground, he will go to hell? When I was in school the teacher would also say that if I “did self abuse, it would fall off “. It hasn’t but I am sure there are other tales as well. Is there any truth at all?

Onan obeys God and has sex with his brother’s wife but pulls out at the last minute so that his seed spills on the ground. God then kills Onan for disobeying him and sends him straight to hell. Somewhere along the way this ‘disobeying of God” was turned into a punishment for masturbation.
