How about physicians answer questions such as if they drink alcohol or take painkillers, and when was the last time they had consumed either? How about how much sleep a surgeon has before performing surgery? How about  whether a physician practices unsafe sex? Those are much more relevant to a patient's well-being than questions regarding firearm ownership. Any Dr who asks me about firearm ownership will be immediately fired. They need to be reminded that they are performing paid services for their employers (the patients), no more, no less.
