While the info in this press release may be correct about Dr Singh, the facts about the science on XMRV are grossly distorted. It was not Judy Mikovits self-publishing some controversial little paper in 2009. It was a team of some of the best US scientists and institutions that did the research, and it was published in one of the world’s most prestigious journals with stringent peer review policies

In 2009, Science Magazine, with an ISI impact factor of 29.747, (versus the rating of 5.15 for the Journal of Virology, although it is ranked 4th in the Virology field, which published this paper), published Detection of an Infectious Retrovirus, XMRV, in Blood Cells of Patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, with the research done by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the Cleveland Clinic , and the Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI). www.sciencemag.org/content/326/5952/585.abstract

The unacceptable distortion of facts presented here, "In 2009, a researcher at the Whittemore Peterson Institute in Reno, Nev., Judy A. Mikovits, Ph.D., published a study that found XMRV in the blood of 68 percent of CFS patients she sampled. That study, (which) engendered much controversy," should be corrected before this press release is spread further.
