    According to the Wikipedia website the average walking speed of a human is about 3.1 miles per hour. That means if you walk 12 miles in about two hours(125min as this article states you will basically need to DOUBLE your walking speed....that is much faster than what I consider a "brisk walk." I consider walking 1.5 times my normal walking speed to be a "very brisk" walk. So in order for me to walk 12 miles I would need to walk 'very briskly' for about 160 minutes.
