... in response to Premature Ovarian Failure (POF)
  1. Lois Turner Lois Turner Canada says:

I experienced POF in my mid thirties, however without the hot flashes or night sweats.  I have been on estradiol ever since, although I have tried alternatives, none worked. If I even try and reduce my estradiol supplementation, I am miserable and my health suffers horribly. At age 63 I will remain on it for the rest of my life and enjoy my life, not suffer needlessly. I knew a woman who was on estrogen supplements until she died at aged 103. One should do their own research and listen to their body and not give all control to one's doctor.  Science and popular opinion changes over the years and we have seen such in the science of female hormones. I am supersensitive to all forms of progestin, progesterone and cannot supplement even a little. As well, women may need to supplement with testosterone. But if one is miserable it is important to try different things within reason and see what works. Cheers Lois
