Thanks for this article! I was diagnosed 2000 with macro pituitary adenoma (secreting both prolatin & GH) and failed bromocriptine and dostinex (tumor shrank and re-grew). I had gamma knife in 2006 at UCSF since I had ITP (5000 platelets) and could not have surgery. Doctors fussed about gamma knife with pegvisomant treatment and we decided gamma knife was enough. The tumor shrank but remained and in 2012 just had a MRI and IGF-1 test...ITS GROWING AGAIN!!!! Now I have Mild MVP w/regurg, Asthma, joint pain, nausea (all day long) and mild headaches. This article is food for thought and will help me make some informed decisions about my next step. I run/weight train about 6 days a week and refuse to let my health be compromised by this condition!
