    'Unwanted technology' is a good phrase. We should have the end of life experience we want, not what others think we should have. One obvious way of ensuring we have the death we want is for each of us to have a death plan, rather as mums-to-be have birth plans.
    I have used the death plan template in the website My Last Song. It's holistic and covers medical, physical, emotional, spiritual and practical issues, even down to who will look after the pets. It means that the approaching death is discussed in a clear way with loved ones, medical professionals and if appropriate, minister of religion.
    And the result will hopefully be a comfortable and comforting death.
