    and this is news?  People, please understand that high blood sugars, as found in diabetics and others, cause all organs to be damaged and eventually fail.  It is not surprising to find the kidney would predict other organ failures.  You could look at the health of any major organ and see a correlation.  My brother, a type 1 diabetic, died on the dialysis table of a heart attack.  This was not surprising when you realize what high blood glucose does to the human body.
