    I know first hand the devastation meningitis can cause to a child. 2 days after my daughters 1st birthday she was in PICU fighting  for her life after contracting strep b pneumococcal. She spent 21 days there, had a stroke and continuously seized. She is almost 9 with the mind of about a 2 or 3 year old. She spends most of her time in and out of dr. and hospitals. She has had 2 VNS implants and tried every anti-seizure med on and off the market. We finally had to do brain surgery to try to control her seizures. She is doing much better but still struggles.
