Opinion

  1. Karen Davis, RN, LMT Karen Davis, RN, LMT United States says:

Nursing is understaffed in all areas of nursing due to budget concerns since nursing hours are not billable to the insurance company like doctors are. Therefore, the overwhelming stress inherent in nursing follows a nurse even when they change positions. Many of us (and I have a lot of nursing friends) change careers. The high stress levels in nursing, in my opinion, is also due to women (historically suppressed) nurses who never stood up and said "this is insane! I cannot take care of this many patients safely"!!!
