    I wonder whether they have it backwards: maybe in the people who had a less severe case of the covid, that was because they had “better memory B cell response” than the people who had severe COVID-19. It seems thoroughly counter-intuitive to think that when the disease lasts longer and causes more severe symptoms (giving our immune system more time to adapt and learn how to kill the virus) we develop less immunity than when the disease is shorter and less severe. Perhaps we could learn more, by looking for any correlation between immune response to the Covid and other factors such as the patient’s age, that might be the cause of a difference in the ability of the immune system to respond.
